USDT but not USDT is this a junk coin?

A friend of mine send me these screen shots from Coinbase and is confused as to why he can’t convert this USDT (Tether) coin to anything. Does this mean the coin he has almost 1 million of is basically worthless and he’s confusing it with the USDT stablecoin?
